Engineer Mohamed Salem, Head of the Telecommunications, Electronics, and Computers Division at the Engineering Industries Chamber of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, confirmed that developing the electronics sector is one of the most important strategic paths to support the localization of modern automotive manufacturing in Egypt, especially amid the accelerating global reliance on electronic systems within vehicles.

Growing Role of Electronic Components in Vehicles

During the division's first meeting following its restructuring, attended by the head of the Engineering Industries Chamber, Salem explained that the automotive industry is increasingly dependent on advanced electronic components, including electronic control units, in-vehicle communication systems, sensors, and intelligent driving technologies. This makes developing local capabilities in electronics manufacturing a pivotal step to enhance the competitiveness of Egypt's automotive sector and increase added value.

Egypt's Opportunity to Become a Regional Hub

He pointed out that Egypt has a real opportunity to transform into a regional center for electronics design and manufacturing, which would directly support automotive supply chains, especially amid the ongoing restructuring of global supply chains and the trend of international companies diversifying their production centers.

Integrated Plan for Industrial Integration

Salem added that the division is working on an integrated plan aimed at surveying local manufacturing capabilities and enhancing integration among companies operating in the sector, alongside supporting feeder industries for electronic components. This would enable the establishment of a strong industrial base capable of meeting the needs of the modern automotive sector and boosting export opportunities to regional and global markets.
