Egypt Invites Toyota Motors for Local Manufacturing and Auto Parts Production
In a new step to boost Egypt's automotive industry, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with the head of Japan's Toyota Tsusho Group to discuss ways to strengthen economic and investment partnership between Egypt and the Japanese conglomerate. The talks covered avenues for enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors, highlighting the importance of this strategic alliance.
Egyptian Call for Local Manufacturing Contribution
Abdelatty called on Toyota Tsusho to contribute to the development of the automotive industry in Egypt, alongside other Japanese industries. He stressed the need to establish a Japanese industrial zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, while supporting the presence of Japanese companies in Egypt to benefit from the exceptional incentives offered by the zone.
Transfer of Japanese Expertise and Technology
The minister also invited the company to transfer Japanese expertise and advanced technology to Egypt, emphasizing that localizing the automotive industry is a top priority for the Egyptian government. Abdelatty outlined the incentives provided by the state in this sector, underscoring the necessity of collaborating with Toyota Motors in manufacturing vehicles locally, producing automotive components, and establishing regional supply chains starting from Egypt.
