Egypt to Offer Incentives for Solar-Powered Roadside Billboards
The plan targets a massive shift. Egypt is studying incentives for companies using renewable energy to power roadside billboards, aiming to cut electricity consumption and carbon emissions. The goal is clear and ambitious.
Incentives and Mechanisms
Engineer Eman Nabil, CEO of the National Authority for Regulating Advertising on Public Roads, confirmed the move towards building effective partnerships with national entities. The objective is to adopt the latest technical and environmental solutions that enhance billboard operational efficiency and rationalize energy use. Shifting to renewable energy is no longer a choice, but a necessity driven by the state's green economy push and sustainable development goals.
The authority is currently studying specific mechanisms to provide these incentives for advertisers who adopt renewable energy to light their billboards. Expanding in this direction will accelerate the transition to a more efficient and sustainable advertising system. This decision directly supports state efforts to rationalize energy consumption and significantly reduce carbon emissions.
Coordination Meeting with Renewable Energy Authority
A key coordination meeting was held between the advertising authority and the New and Renewable Energy Authority. The meeting included Deputy CEO Engineer Hoda Abdel Rahman, Fatima El-Hanawy, head of the economic and commercial affairs sector at the authority. Engineer Mohamed Rashad representing the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy. Attendees discussed boosting the use of renewable energy for powering billboards on public roads.
Discussions focused on leveraging renewable energy solutions, primarily solar power, to operate billboards on main roads and axes. This significantly helps rationalize electricity use and lower emissions. The numbers speak volumes.
Both sides reviewed a proposed comprehensive plan to expand renewable energy use in the advertising sector. The plan ensures sustainable billboard operation, enhances operational efficiency, while preserving urban aesthetics and adhering to technical and environmental standards. Both parties stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation, exchanging technical expertise. Encouraging companies in the sector to adopt these sustainable solutions.
