Walid Gamal El-Din to Omani Ambassador: Economic Zone is Gateway for Export and Strategic Industries Localization
Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), received Ambassador Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, Oman's Ambassador to Egypt, at the SCZone headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting focused on enhancing economic and investment cooperation between the two nations, highlighting opportunities in priority industrial and logistics sectors. Several SCZone officials attended.
Massive Investment Potential
During the discussions, Gamal El-Din outlined the zone's capabilities, which include four industrial zones and six seaports on both the Red Sea and Mediterranean. This integrated system connects manufacturing with logistics and international trade, boosting the competitiveness of export-oriented industrial projects. The numbers are impressive.
He confirmed that SCZone is pushing forward with plans to improve the investment environment by simplifying procedures, upgrading infrastructure. Offering comprehensive services to investors. The goal is to attract new industrial investments and support Egypt's drive to localize strategic industries and strengthen supply chains. Gamal El-Din also expressed the zone's ambition to expand cooperation with Oman through sustainable partnerships in key sectors like manufacturing, logistics, and food security.
Oman Vision 2040
Ambassador Al Rahbi emphasized the strength of Egypt-Oman relations, stating the next phase will see deeper economic and investment ties aligned with Oman Vision 2040, which prioritizes industry, logistics, food security, and tourism. He voiced his country's desire to boost business-to-business links through visits and meetings that bring investors and companies together. The shift is significant.
Next month, the Sokhna Integrated Industrial Zone — part of the SCZone — is scheduled to host an Omani economic delegation for a field tour aimed at exploring available investment opportunities. This visit comes at a critical time when regional efforts to localize strategic industries are accelerating.
The meeting reflects a clear push toward greater integration between the two countries, especially amid global challenges reshaping supply chains. The Suez Canal Economic Zone offers a unique model combining ports and industrial areas, potentially opening wide horizons for both Egyptian and Omani exports.
