A bizarre incident in Seattle, Washington, nearly turned into a disaster after a female driver followed her GPS navigation system directly onto light rail tracks inside a station.

The incident occurred Friday afternoon when the driver fully relied on her phone's navigation app to reach her destination. A technical glitch or outdated map data allegedly directed her onto a path never intended for vehicles.

Blind Trust in GPS Ends on the Rails

Security and emergency services at the station received a report of a private vehicle that had breached the station's perimeter and come to a stop on the tracks designated for high-speed trains. Preliminary investigations and witness statements confirmed the driver had no intention of trespassing or vandalism; she was simply following the app's instructions.

According to reports, the app—due to a technical error or lack of map updates—identified a pedestrian and railway walkway as a viable road for cars. Continuing to follow the directions, the driver found herself driving among pedestrians and platforms, 9 meters above ground level, before her wheels slipped and the car became stuck on the rails, completely immobilized.

Quick Intervention Prevents Catastrophe

Fortunately, station staff reacted swiftly. An urgent alarm was issued to halt train traffic on the line, and emergency crews along with a specialized crane were dispatched to remove the vehicle from the tracks before any train arrived. The rapid response averted what could have resulted in severe loss of life and property.

Driver in Shock, Passengers Stunned

A video circulating online shows the driver in a state of shock and disbelief, while passengers gathered to watch the bizarre scene. The incident turned their usual trust in technology into a near-tragedy, leaving many in astonishment.
