Bugatti Brouillard: A One-Off Masterpiece Valued Near $20 Million
Bugatti has revealed the Brouillard, the first car from its exclusive Solitaire programme, a true one-off that will never be replicated. It packs a W16 engine producing 1,600 metric horsepower and carries an estimated value of nearly $20 million. The car is named after founder Ettore Bugatti's favourite horse, and Bugatti plans to build only two Solitaire masterpieces per year.
Bugatti has unveiled the Brouillard, the first creation from its Solitaire programme that revives the concept of building an entire car to a single client's vision. Estimated value? Nearly $20 million. That figure places it among the most expensive modern cars ever made.
Just One Car in the World
Don't call the Bugatti Brouillard a limited edition. It's a One-Off — built for one customer and never to be replicated in the same design. The French marque debuted it in 2025 as the inaugural project of Programme Solitaire, which allows completely independent design with a unique personality while relying on the brand's existing engineering foundations. The programme itself is extremely restricted. Bugatti plans to build only two unique masterpieces per year under Solitaire.
1600 Horsepower from a W16 Engine
Despite looking like a piece of art, the Brouillard packs one of the most powerful mechanical systems Bugatti has ever produced. It sits atop the legendary W16 platform, delivering approximately 1,600 metric horsepower — or about 1,578 hp in US measurement. That output makes it one of the last and rarest applications of the W16 engine linked to names like the Chiron, before Bugatti moves into the V16 hybrid era with the Tourbillon.
A New Design on a Familiar Foundation
Bugatti didn't just change the paint or the cabin. The Solitaire programme allows a comprehensive redesign. The Brouillard features a distinct coupe body with smoother lines, a long tail. A sculpted rear, while preserving some of the brand's historic design cues. The result gives it a visual identity completely separate from the rest of the current Bugatti lineup.
The Name Comes from Ettore Bugatti's Horse
Even the name carries a story. Brouillard was the favourite horse of company founder Ettore Bugatti. The company describes it as combining speed, beauty. Agility — it could even open its own stable door thanks to a special mechanism Ettore designed. From there, Bugatti wanted the car to carry the same personality: immense power wrapped in a more streamlined and elegant design than pure performance machines.
Bugatti has not officially disclosed what the owner paid for the Brouillard. Independent estimates place its value near $20 million. That number reflects its status as one of the rarest modern cars on the planet. The Solitaire programme signals a new direction for the French marque toward ultra-bespoke manufacturing, where each car transcends mere transportation to become a moving artwork blending advanced engineering with handcrafted precision.
