Chery dominated Egypt's locally assembled car market in August, selling 1,470 vehicles and capturing a 34% market share, according to the latest AMIC report. The numbers tell a clear story about the shifting balance of power among brands that assemble vehicles inside the country.
Chery Leads... but the Race Is Tight
The Chinese brand didn't just top the list — it built a commanding gap over the rest of the field in the locally assembled segment. Nissan finished second with a 20% share and 872 vehicles, leaving nearly 600 units between first and second place. A serious gap.
Hyundai took third with 14% and 595 units, while Changan followed closely in fourth at 14% with 587 vehicles — an eight-car difference that shows how tight this segment really is.
Chevrolet, Toyota, and Haval: The Rest of the Pack
Chevrolet landed fifth with a 12% share after selling 500 cars. That's not a weak position, but it signals a relative decline compared to the brands ahead — especially as Chinese names gain ground in local assembly. Toyota came sixth at just 2% with 93 vehicles, followed by Haval in seventh at 2% with 76 units.
Those numbers are modest next to the top three, but they reflect the reality of demand in this category and how it ties to specific models rather than brand reputation alone. Chinese brands claimed the lion's share of locally assembled sales in August. Japanese and American legacy names fell back. A market in motion.
