The "car blogger" phenomenon is spreading rapidly across the Egyptian market. What started as short entertainment clips has evolved into a full industry that shapes purchasing decisions for thousands of people. The irony is that the title "car expert" now applies to anyone with an active social media presence, regardless of their actual technical knowledge.

Where Did It All Begin?

Simplicity is the key driver. Audiences prefer watching a quick video on their phones over reading lengthy reports or visiting official service centers. Your phone follows you everywhere — even to family gatherings and social events. That is exactly what bloggers have cleverly noticed. They share their personal experiences, whether successful or failed, packaged as fast and easy-to-consume content.

The result? An audience that watches, engages, and comments — out of entertainment, curiosity, or a genuine desire to learn. That's where the "sniper blogger" emerges, someone who reads public needs with precision and builds a follower base that may be authentic, fake, or partially purchased through social media platforms. Then comes the reshaping process, molding audience opinions toward specific commercial agendas.

The Hidden Battle Between Automakers and Bloggers

The landscape has grown more complicated as more car brands compete for market share in Egypt. Some bloggers have left their original jobs entirely to focus on this field — a few even hired business managers or signed contracts with advertising agencies. Automakers now assemble fully dedicated blogger teams to generate fast market impact, paying substantial fees that vary based on audience size and reach. The stakes keep rising.

This dynamic raises a critical question: what safeguards protect followers who trust these people blindly? An average consumer may lose money or form an inaccurate opinion about a specific vehicle — simply by relying on guidance from someone with undisclosed commercial interests. The harder question involves the state's share of the millions these influencers generate from this activity.

The solution isn't complicated. The matter doesn't require committees or lengthy meetings — just a simple inspection unit to monitor car bloggers' content across social platforms. Any video showing a car, explaining its specs, and featuring its creator standing beside it in a promotional manner means that person has a contract with the manufacturer or local dealer. And that means they should be subject to tax accounting like any other commercial activity. A little monitoring of these individuals would reveal plenty of surprises.
