Understanding the Idle System
Under normal conditions, the engine continues running at idle speed without needing to press the accelerator, thanks to a precise system that controls the amount of air entering the engine. Faulty or Dirty Idle Air Control Valve
The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve is one of the key components of the idle system, regulating the air needed to maintain engine rotation while the vehicle is stationary. When this valve becomes dirty or malfunctions, the engine loses its ability to maintain the proper idle speed, resulting in stalling as soon as the accelerator is released.
Carbon Buildup in the Throttle Body
Over time and accumulated mileage, deposits build up inside the throttle body, hindering the movement of the butterfly valve and reducing the amount of air entering the engine. This negatively affects the stability of engine operation, especially during deceleration or when coming to a complete stop.
Vacuum Leaks in Intake Hoses

Faulty Mass Air Flow Sensor
The Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor plays a crucial role in measuring the amount of air entering the engine and sending data to the Electronic Control Unit (ECU). When its readings become inaccurate, the ECU calculates an improper fuel quantity, causing a drop in engine RPM and sudden stalling.
