Egyptian Car Prices Drop: Discounts Reaching EGP 340,000 Across 19 New Models

The Egyptian car market witnessed one of its widest price correction waves in August 2026. Dealers and official importers announced price cuts on 19 new models, with the largest single reduction hitting EGP 340,000. Competition is intensifying among brands. Companies are scrambling to revive sales in a market that had been cooling noticeably.

Brands and Models Affected by the Reductions

The discounted lineup spans Volvo, Chery, Kaiyi, Seat, Cupra, and Dibal. Sedans, SUVs, and fully electric vehicles all feature in this latest round. The biggest single cut this month belongs to a Swedish luxury electric fastback.

Volvo Leads the Price Decline

The fully electric Volvo ES90 tops the list with a EGP 340,000 reduction. After the cut, the car now starts at EGP 3,950,000, down from EGP 4,290,000. It's a clear signal of how the Swedish brand is repositioning itself in a price-sensitive market.

Volvo XC60 also saw significant drops across its trims. The Essential variant is down EGP 200,000, while the Ultimate Dark lost EGP 310,000. The Black Edition was reduced by a full EGP 260,000, making the premium SUV more attainable than ever before in Egypt.

The cuts extended to the three-row Volvo XC90 Ultra Bright. That shed EGP 300,000 off its sticker price. It now retails for EGP 4,950,000 instead of EGP 5,250,000. A substantial shift that places the flagship SUV in a new competitive bracket.

Chery Reduces Prices on Three Models

Chery entered the discount wave with three models, including the Arrizo 6 GT 2027. The Chinese brand continues its aggressive pricing strategy in the sporty sedan segment — a move that pressures both Korean and European rivals.

This isn't just a seasonal clearance event. The Egyptian market is seeing a structural shift in pricing strategies across most dealerships. Manufacturers are chasing buyers who have been delaying purchases while waiting for currency stability and clearer specifications.

Reductions are concentrated in the higher price brackets, where competition from imported and electric vehicles is fierce. Budget-friendly categories remain largely untouched. Smart shoppers will monitor these waves closely before making their final decision on the right car to buy.
