Automotive Expert Urges Companies to Reassess Vehicle Pricing in Egypt
An automotive industry expert in Egypt stated that prices of new passenger vehicles in the local market are unlikely to see significant reductions in the near term. He explained that vehicle pricing remains closely linked to foreign currency exchange rates, whether for fully imported models or vehicles manufactured locally in Egypt.
Call for a Review of Pricing Policies
The expert noted that any meaningful decline in car prices in Egypt largely depends on a decrease in the US dollar's value against the Egyptian pound. He added that the dollar has already recorded limited declines at certain times and called on dealerships and automotive companies to reconsider their pricing strategies, particularly after the substantial price increases introduced during periods of dollar appreciation.
Improving Dollar Outlook and Market Imbalance
According to the expert, the Egyptian automotive market is experiencing a state of imbalance due to what he described as poorly considered pricing policies. Some companies have increased vehicle prices at significantly higher rates than others, highlighting the absence of unified pricing practices across the market. He also indicated that the US dollar is showing signs of improvement in Egypt amid increasing inflows of capital and investments.
Changing Consumer Purchasing Behavior
He pointed out that car buyers in Egypt are no longer rushing into purchase decisions as they did previously, largely because expectations of a sharp rise in the dollar have diminished. As a result, consumers are under less pressure to accelerate vehicle purchases.
Advice to Avoid Overpriced Vehicles
The expert urged consumers to avoid purchasing vehicles that have experienced substantial price hikes in recent months, particularly increases that lack clear justification. He noted that some models have maintained stable pricing, offering buyers alternative options instead of vehicles that have seen significant increases.
Success Formula for Egypt's Automotive Market
In conclusion, he emphasized that achieving sustainable improvement in Egypt's automotive market requires increasing vehicle supply while maintaining price stability, a combination that could support gradual market recovery and growth.
