August Discounts Shake Egypt's Auto Market: 19 Cars Drop Up to EGP 340K

Egypt's new car market witnessed a wave of price cuts in August 2026, covering 19 models with discounts ranging from EGP 30,000 to EGP 340,000. The reductions hit Volvo, Chery, KAI, Seat, Cupra, and Debal, spanning sedans, crossovers, hybrids, and electric vehicles.

Volvo Leads the Biggest Price Drops

The Volvo ES90 electric sedan topped the list with a EGP 340,000 reduction, bringing its price down to EGP 3,950,000 from EGP 4,290,000. The Volvo XC60 also saw cuts between EGP 200,000 and EGP 310,000 depending on trim, with the Essential version shedding EGP 200,000.

The biggest single drop came in the Ultimate Dark trim at EGP 310,000, while the Black Edition lost about EGP 260,000. The Volvo XC90 Ultra Bright also fell EGP 300,000 to EGP 4,950,000, down from EGP 5,250,000. This move goes against the market's typical upward trend.

Why Are Prices Falling Despite Rising Costs?

Montaser Zaitoun, a member of the General Automotive Division at the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, said the cuts aim primarily to boost sales and stimulate the market. Current conditions don't support lower prices, he added, but dealers prioritize higher sales volume over bigger profit margins.

The current movement sends a clear signal to hesitant buyers, especially with Volvo prices retreating across premium trims. Demand for electric and hybrid vehicles is growing steadily, and dealers are using the summer months to clear inventory before the new season begins.

Such discounts push consumers to compare available models more seriously. Those considering a Chery or a Seat will find multiple competitive options, and the competition among major brands ultimately benefits the Egyptian buyer.
