Next-Gen Toyota Corolla Design Revealed in Documentary Series
A new teaser from Toyota. The next-generation Corolla is closer than we think. The Japanese automaker has already started an unofficial promotional campaign via a documentary film. The current model has been on sale since 2018. While it still performs strongly, its age is starting to show — and a replacement is on the horizon.
Design Inspired by the Concept
The documentary, produced by Toyota in collaboration with NHK in Japan, offers a clear glimpse of the future car's lines. Employees are seen seated at a future car presentation, and an all-new Corolla appears on screen. Unfortunately, the finished design remains hidden, as the filmed cars are intentionally blurred. Still, we get a good preview of the long and sleek sedan silhouette. It looks very similar to the Corolla concept unveiled last October.
The nose is sharp, but it may not be the car's standout feature. The side profile steals the show. The front side window base isn't horizontal — it runs diagonally along the door panel. Door designs also seem to carry over from the concept to production, with lines stretching along the lower body and ending in a triangular shape. The rear roofline extends further back, more like a crossover than a traditional sedan. It's a bold departure.
Multiple Powertrain Options
Toyota isn't ready to fully reveal the new Corolla yet, but it has confirmed a diverse lineup of powertrains. Hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and even a full battery electric vehicle (BEV) are on the table. A next-generation GR model is also likely to appear. The variety is surprising. Toyota's strategy reflects a clear push to cover every segment of the shifting market.
