New Proton Saga Set for Egypt Launch with 1.5L Engine and 120 HP
Proton is preparing to unveil the new-generation Saga in Egypt with a 1.5-litre engine producing 120 hp and 150 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT and 4.9 L/100 km fuel consumption. Based on the new AMA platform, it offers advanced safety including 6 airbags and automatic braking, plus a 16-inch split display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Local assembly with Ezz Elarab Group is expected to continue, intensifying competition in the compact sedan segment.
Proton is gearing up to reveal the all-new Saga in Egypt in the coming period, aiming to strengthen the Malaysian brand's presence in the Egyptian market. The new model packs a 1.5-litre engine producing 120 hp, a clear upgrade from the previous 1.3-litre unit. Assembly is expected to continue with Ezz Elarab Group locally.
AMA Platform and a More Powerful Engine for Proton Saga
The new AMA platform underpins the car. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine delivers 120 hp and 150 Nm of torque, making it stronger, quieter. Cleaner than the previous unit. The new CVT gearbox provides better acceleration and fuel consumption of 4.9 litres per 100 km, while the familiar 4-speed automatic remains an option.
Advanced Safety Features and Modern Cabin Tech
On the safety front, the new Saga gets 6 airbags and surround sensors and cameras. Automatic emergency braking, side collision warning, door open alert, traffic sign recognition. Cross-traffic alert when reversing with front sensors. Inside, a 16-inch split display for instruments and infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a horizontal instrument panel design, piano black and satin silver accents. Semi-leather seats with a higher seating position than before.
The exterior design turns heads. A larger front grille spanning the full width with wide LED headlights and daytime running lights framed by chrome strips. Two-tone alloy wheels and a full-width LED rear light bar similar to the Audi e-tron. These touches give Proton a more modern presence in the compact sedan segment.
With these comprehensive updates, Proton aims to compete strongly in the Egyptian market. The question remains: can the new Saga assert itself among rivals? The numbers suggest promising potential, but the market awaits final pricing and official launch timing.
