McLaren 788HS: The Legendary Farewell to the 750S Family with Its Most Powerful Version
McLaren has closed the curtain on one of its most successful sports car families, unveiling the 788HS, which represents the most powerful and extreme version in the history of the 720S–750S series, marking the final appearance of this platform before the company transitions to a new generation of supercars.
Limited Production and Debut
The car was revealed during the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, with McLaren confirming it as the "ultimate evolution" of the supercar family that began with the 720S in 2017, followed by the 765LT and 750S. Only 200 units will be produced—100 coupes and 100 Spyders—each customizable through McLaren Special Operations (MSO), making it one of the brand's rarest and most exclusive models.
V8 Engine with 788 HP
The 788HS is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 788 metric horsepower (777 hp) and 800 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, with a top speed of 330 km/h, boasting the highest power-to-weight ratio in the series thanks to a dry weight of just 1,265 kg.
McLaren confirms these upgrades have increased downforce by nearly 10% compared to the 765LT, providing superior track stability. Inside, carbon fiber is used extensively to reduce weight, featuring a new center console, sports seats, HS-specific badging, and the option of a full exposed carbon fiber body through MSO customization.
McLaren 788HS Price
McLaren has not yet announced an official price, but specialized reports suggest the 788HS will exceed the $600,000 mark, with some estimates predicting it could surpass $1 million after customization options, making it the most expensive car in the 720S–750S family history.
