Kasrawy Group Begins Testing Locally Assembled JAC JS2 Ahead of Official Launch
According to informed sources, the Kasrawy Group, the exclusive distributor of JAC in Egypt, has already started operational testing of the locally assembled version of the JAC JS2. This step is part of the final preparations to launch the car in the Egyptian market, which is expected to take place during the fourth quarter of this year.
Details of Local Assembly Process
JAC is working to strengthen its presence in the Egyptian market through local manufacturing. The JAC JS2 is currently undergoing rigorous tests covering the engine, transmission, air conditioning, and a comprehensive check of driving dynamics. These tests aim to ensure the vehicle meets the required quality standards before it arrives at showrooms.
Expected Specifications and Target Segment
The JAC JS2 is a compact hatchback targeting young buyers and small families looking for an economical and practical car for daily use. It is expected to feature a 1.5-liter petrol engine producing up to 113 horsepower, with two transmission options: a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic. The JAC JS2 is anticipated to compete with models such as the Chery Arrizo 5 and the Hyundai i10 in the same segment.
Importance of Local Assembly for the Egyptian Market
The decision to assemble the JAC JS2 locally aligns with the Egyptian government's strategy to deepen local industry and reduce reliance on imports. Local assembly is expected to lower the car's price compared to imported alternatives, making it an attractive option for consumers. This step also supports Kasrawy Group's expansion plans in Egypt and strengthens JAC's position as a promising Chinese brand in the market.
Future Outlook for the Vehicle
If tests proceed as planned, the locally assembled JAC JS2 is likely to reach dealers by September or October this year. Kasrawy Group will announce final prices and available features at the time of the official launch. Market observers are eagerly watching this model as one of the new additions that could see strong demand thanks to its competitive pricing and practical specifications.
