June Brings 9 New Cars to the Egyptian Market in an Unprecedented Competitive Wave

The Egyptian car market witnessed one of the most diverse launch waves since the start of the year during June, as 9 new cars officially entered the competition. This comes at a time when consumers are closely watching price trends amid currency fluctuations and changes in import and shipping costs. What stands out about June's offerings is that they were not concentrated in a single segment, but rather spread across pickup trucks for business and heavy-duty use, family-oriented SUVs with high ground clearance, plug-in hybrid vehicles, and an updated version of a well-known European model. This reflects dealers' efforts to address different customer segments instead of relying on the traditional sedan category.

Pickup Trucks Make a Strong Comeback

The biggest presence in June was in the pickup truck segment, a category poised to gain new momentum in the Egyptian market as interest grows in practical, multi-purpose vehicles—whether for business owners or customers seeking a robust vehicle capable of handling various operating conditions. Among the most notable models launched during the month is the JAC T6, introduced by El Qasrawy Group with a 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine, entering the practical pickup truck category for business use, with official pricing yet to be announced.

Also launched was the RELY R8, powered by a 2.4-liter Mitsubishi gasoline engine producing 118 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and four-wheel drive. Prices start at EGP 2.3 million for the Standard trim and reach EGP 2.4 million for the Comfort trim. This strong presence of pickups reveals that companies are not only betting on individual customers but also targeting business, contracting, and service sectors.

Chevrolet and Mitsubishi Compete in the Heavy-Duty Segment

Chevrolet entered the competition with the S10 MAX through its agent Mansour Automotive, offering a new option in the pickup segment at a price of EGP 5.4 million. The vehicle is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine producing 159 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, available with either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission. In the same direction, Diamond Motors revealed the new generation of the Mitsubishi L200, a globally recognized name in the pickup category, featuring a 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine with 184 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque, an automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive. The vehicle was launched on a pre-order basis without announcing the final price.

This diversity in offerings reflects a shift in dealer strategies, as they seek to meet the needs of broader customer segments—from individuals looking for a family car to companies needing practical vehicles for daily use. As the Egyptian market remains in a state of anticipation, the key question for consumers remains: how will this new wave of cars affect the prices of current models in both the new and used car markets?
