Jaecoo J5 Approaching Egyptian Market with Three Powertrain Options

Jaecoo J5 is set to debut in Egypt through Al Ezzi Arab Motors, the official distributor of Omoda and Jaecoo, in the coming period. The compact SUV, revealed in 2025, arrives with three distinct powertrain choices covering traditional gasoline engines, hybrid systems, and fully electric versions.

Engine lineup and performance specs

The gasoline option features a 1.6-liter turbocharged unit, while the hybrid system pairs a 1.5-liter engine with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. The electric motor produces 145 hp in the standard variant and 208 hp in the higher trim, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The all-electric version offers two battery options rated at 50.6 kWh and 58.9 kWh, delivering a driving range of up to 400 km per charge. That number positions the Jaecoo J5 competitively within the growing compact EV segment, which continues gaining traction among local buyers seeking efficient urban mobility.

Dimensions and cargo space

The vehicle measures 4,380 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, riding on a 2,620 mm wheelbase. The cargo area provides 480 liters of space, expanding significantly to 1,180 liters with the rear seats folded flat — a practical figure for family use and weekend trips.

Design cues include a simple front fascia with a waterfall grille reserved for gasoline and SHS-H hybrid trims, while the electric model sports a distinct face with a transparent insert bearing the brand name and a revised bumper with an integrated air intake.

Cabin features and technology

Inside, the dashboard houses a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment display alongside a fully digital instrument cluster. The gear selector has been relocated to the steering column, while the steering wheel itself borrows its design from the Omoda C9.

Additional highlights include a 1.45-square-meter panoramic glass roof, customizable ambient lighting, a dual smartphone pad with Qi wireless charging, and extra storage beneath the center console. The cabin adopts a minimalist approach, reducing physical buttons on the dashboard for a cleaner look.
