2027 Hyundai Tucson Arrives: The Fifth Generation Redefines the SUV Rulebook

Hyundai has officially unveiled the all-new fifth-generation Tucson, set to launch globally as a 2027 model year, and the transformation is far deeper than a simple mid-cycle refresh. The Korean automaker has completely reimagined its compact SUV, blending a bolder design language with a fully overhauled interior and larger dimensions that push the model into new territory.

A Sharper, More Commanding Exterior Design

The first thing that grabs your attention is the front end, where a large grille seamlessly integrates with daytime running lights in a lighting signature inspired by the letter 'H'. Straight lines and prominent wheel arches give the new Tucson a more traditional SUV stance, a deliberate departure from the sleeker, more aerodynamic look of the outgoing generation. The rear also gets a fresh treatment with redesigned taillights and new detailing around the tailgate.

Practicality gets a boost too. The rear doors now open to 83 degrees, up from 73 degrees on the previous model, making ingress and egress for second-row passengers noticeably easier. Families, especially those with young children or child seats, will feel this difference on a daily basis.

The numbers tell a clear growth story. The new 2027 Tucson measures 4700 mm in length, 1905 mm in width. 1685 mm in height, riding on a wheelbase of 2785 mm. That translates to an increase of roughly 60 mm in length, 40 mm in width. About 30 mm more wheelbase compared to the previous generation.

More exterior metal means more interior space. Hyundai has redesigned the cabin from the ground up, aiming for improved passenger room across both rows and a higher level of in-car technology, including more advanced infotainment and driver-assistance systems, though full details remain under wraps for now.

This fifth generation represents a massive leap for a model that consistently tops global sales charts.
