Geely Monjaro Hybrid Makes Global Debut in Egypt

Geely has officially unveiled the all-new Monjaro Hybrid Em-i in Egypt, making the Egyptian market the first worldwide to receive this model before its launch in other global markets. The vehicle sits firmly in the D-SUV segment, positioning it against established players in this highly competitive category.

GEA Evo Platform and Smart Dimensions

The new Monjaro rides on the GEA Evo platform. That supports flexible interior designs and multiple powertrain configurations. At 4.8 meters long with a wheelbase of 2.845 meters, the Monjaro offers generous cabin space. Inside, drivers get the Flamy Auto entertainment system, Flamy sound system, and ambient lighting as standard.

The seats deserve special attention. Geely engineers designed the Monjaro's seats with 11 foam layers, pushing occupant comfort to the maximum. Company officials stated that this model is engineered to set a new quality benchmark and enhance driving dynamics in the hybrid D-SUV category.

The Monjaro is the export version of the Geely Xingyue L, already sold in Russia, the Middle East, Australia, and Latin America. The previous generation came with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and a hybrid drivetrain, but this new version introduces the completely updated Em-i system.

Egypt's selection for this global launch was no accident. The Middle East has become a critical growth engine for Geely, with the company exporting 474,228 vehicles in the first half of the year — a 157.6% increase year-over-year. Exports hit an all-time monthly record of 106,663 vehicles in July, up 202% annually.

Expansion Plans for the Egyptian Market

Geely has raised its full-year export target to 920,000 vehicles, up from 640,000 as of August 17. Latin America and Africa — a region that includes Egypt — have been designated as key markets with a sales goal of 200,000 cars. This strategic focus confirms Egypt's priority status for the Chinese automaker.

With this global-first launch, Geely is betting big on the Monjaro Hybrid's competitiveness.
