GB Auto Officially Launches iCAUR in Egypt and Unveils V27 with Over 1000 km Range

GB Auto, the exclusive distributor of the iCAUR brand in Egypt, has officially launched the marque in the local market while revealing its first model, the iCAUR V27. The move strengthens the company's position in the new energy vehicle segment, offering an integrated package that combines electric driving with extended range capability. It's a significant step for electrified mobility in Egypt.

The iCAUR Brand and Its 'Born to Play' Philosophy

iCAUR belongs to the Chinese Chery Group, having made its global debut in 2023 under the 'Born to Play' philosophy. The brand focuses on freedom, adventure, technology. Expressing a modern lifestyle, clearly targeting younger buyers with bold designs and advanced features. The Egyptian market is undergoing a noticeable shift toward eco-friendly vehicles.

iCAUR V27: Egypt's First REEV Model

The V27 is the brand's first model in Egypt, belonging to the Extended Range Electric Vehicle (REEV) category. That uses electric motors to drive the wheels. A 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine acts solely as a generator, recharging the battery when levels drop without ever directly powering the wheels. Total driving range reaches approximately 1000 kilometers under the NEDC cycle with a full battery and a full fuel tank, while the battery can also be charged externally or replenished by fueling the car.

Dimensions and Exterior Design

The iCAUR V27 features a distinctive geometric, boxy exterior design, measuring 5045 mm in length, 1976 mm in width, and 1894 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2900 mm. These figures place it firmly in the full-size SUV segment, while the cargo volume reaches 715 liters, catering to families and adventure enthusiasts alike.

Two Trims: Play with RWD and Wild with i-AWD

The car is offered in two trims: 'Play' with rear-wheel drive. 'Wild' with an intelligent all-wheel drive system called i-AWD. The Chery iCAUR V27 Play generates 185 kW and 300 Nm of torque, while the Wild version cranks that up to 335 kW with a massive 505 Nm. The higher spec can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds — an impressive performance figure for an SUV of this size.

Battery Options and Fast Charging

Two battery options are offered, rated at 20.47 kWh and 34.31 kWh depending on the trim, with support for fast charging from 20% to 80% in about 30 minutes. These numbers make the V27 a practical option that eliminates range anxiety, particularly in a local market where public charging infrastructure is still developing.

GB Auto's launch of the iCAUR V27 adds a serious contender to Egypt's growing new energy vehicle segment. All eyes now turn to the official pricing.
