GB Auto Launches iCAUR in Egypt with V27 Offering Nearly 1000 km Range

GB Auto has officially launched the Chinese brand iCAUR in the Egyptian market, unveiling the V27 as its first model — an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (REEV). The total driving range approaches 1000 kilometers under the NEDC cycle. That figure alone reshapes expectations for the local EV segment.

REEV System Explained: Electric Drive with a Gasoline Generator

The iCAUR V27 follows a distinct technical philosophy. Electric motors exclusively drive the wheels, while a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine acts purely as a generator when battery charge runs low. The engine never directly powers the wheels.

Owners can charge the battery from an outlet or simply refuel the tank. The result blends a full electric driving experience with the flexibility of conventional cars on long journeys. Dimensions are generous too: 5045 mm long, 1976 mm wide. 1894 mm tall, riding on a 2900 mm wheelbase. Cargo space starts at 715 liters.

Two Trims and High-Performance Specs

iCAUR offers the V27 in two distinct trims for Egypt. The base Play trim uses rear-wheel drive, producing 185 kW and 300 Nm of torque. The Wild trim steps up with an intelligent i-AWD all-wheel-drive system, boosting output to 335 kW and 505 Nm.

Performance figures impress; the Wild accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds. Buyers can choose between two battery packs rated at 20.47 kWh and 34 kWh. This variety allows customers to match the car to their daily routine and off-road ambitions.

The iCAUR launch fits squarely into GB Auto's broader strategy to grow its new-energy vehicle portfolio. The move introduces a fresh brand with modern global technology to local buyers, intensifying competition within the extended-range electric category — especially with a range figure flirting with the 1000 km benchmark.
