El Tarik Automotive, the exclusive distributor of DFSK in Egypt, has officially launched the all-new DFSK E5 in the local market. The SUV comes with seven seats and currently stands as the cheapest car featuring REEV (Range-Extended Electric Vehicle) technology available in Egypt this August.

What is REEV Technology and Why It's Gaining Traction

Interest in this technology is growing rapidly. The REEV system combines the electric driving experience with an extended range by using an electric motor to drive the wheels while a gasoline engine only charges the battery — no mechanical power reaches the wheels. This setup reduces fuel consumption and lowers running costs, especially in urban driving conditions.

The numbers here are compelling. The DFSK E5 packs a REEV powertrain with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine acting as a generator, plus an electric motor delivering 174 hp and 300 Nm of torque. Power flows through an automatic transmission, and the driving range reaches 1,150 km on a full tank with a charged battery. That figure beats most conventional rivals in its class.

Dimensions and Interior Features

The car falls into the family SUV segment with three rows of seats. It measures 4,760 mm in length, 1,865 mm in width. 1,710 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,785 mm. That wheelbase provides generous space for passengers across all three rows, making it a practical option for larger families seeking a single do-it-all vehicle.

Inside, the DFSK E5 is equipped with a 12.3-inch central touchscreen for infotainment and vehicle controls, along with a wireless smartphone charger. A premium audio system with 12 speakers spread across the cabin delivers an immersive sound experience, raising the comfort bar for this price point.

Safety equipment includes an anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), front airbags, plus hill-start assist and hill-descent control. These features bolster overall safety and make the vehicle suitable for daily commuting both in the city and beyond.
