Alkan Auto, the official local distributor of the Chinese BAIC brand in the Egyptian market, is preparing to unveil the all-new BAIC BJ40 REEV in the coming period. This model is expected to become one of the most anticipated off-road SUVs in the local market.

The BJ40 REEV represents the extended-range electric version of the iconic BJ40, retaining its rugged, boxy design tailored for off-road driving and unpaved terrain.

BAIC BJ40 REEV Specifications Ahead of Its Local Launch

Powertrain Exceeding 540 Horsepower

The BJ40 REEV relies on a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that functions solely as a generator, paired with two electric motors—one on the front axle and one on the rear—providing a fully electric all-wheel-drive system. The powertrain generates a total output of 403 kW, equivalent to approximately 548 hp, with a torque of 655 Nm. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds.

Driving Range Exceeding 1,200 Kilometers

One of the key strengths of the BJ40 REEV is its ability to cover long distances without range anxiety. It offers a total driving range of over 1,200 kilometers, thanks to the extended-range system that combines the battery with the gasoline generator engine.

Dimensions and Space

The vehicle measures 4,790 mm in length, 1,940 mm in width, and approximately 1,960 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,760 mm and a ground clearance of 215 mm.

Features and Equipment

BAIC has equipped its new SUV with a modern cabin featuring a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.8-inch central infotainment screen, and an additional 12.8-inch screen for the front passenger. The vehicle also offers heated, ventilated, and massage seats, a digital rearview mirror, and a large panoramic sunroof with an area of 1.2 square meters.

Safety Systems

The complete list of safety features has yet to be announced, but the SUV is expected to come with a wide range of driver assistance systems and active and passive safety technologies appropriate for its class.
