The Egyptian car market witnessed the official launch of 6 new models for the first time during August. The mix is striking — conventional petrol cars alongside extended-range electric vehicles. Chinese and German brands are fighting harder for a slice of the local market. Each new model targets a different buyer segment, from families to tech enthusiasts.

Opel Frontera: First Seven-Seater Opel in Egypt

The new Opel Frontera is powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 130 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque. It pairs with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, hitting a top speed of 190 km/h. Fuel consumption sits at 6.1 liters per 100 kilometers, with a 44-liter fuel tank.

The official price is 1,190,000 EGP for a single trim level. The Frontera marks a significant move for Opel in Egypt — it's the first model under the German badge to offer seven seats. Family buyers now have a fresh alternative in the segment.

iCAUR V27: Range Beyond 1000 Kilometers

The iCAUR V27 belongs to the REEV category — extended-range electric vehicles — a concept still new to the Egyptian market. Electric motors drive the wheels entirely, while a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine acts purely as a generator to recharge the battery when needed. The petrol unit never touches the wheels directly.

The total driving range approaches 1000 kilometers according to the NEDC cycle, with a full battery and a full fuel tank. Drivers can charge the battery from a socket or simply fill up with petrol. That flexibility removes the range anxiety that still scares many Egyptian buyers away from full EVs.
