Hyundai has officially unveiled the all-new eighth generation of its iconic compact sedan, the Hyundai Elantra, known as the Avante in its home South Korean market, at the 2026 Busan Mobility Show. This latest iteration represents a significant leap forward, featuring a completely redesigned exterior, larger dimensions, a heavily upgraded cabin equipped with AI-powered technologies, and revised gasoline and hybrid powertrains to meet the demands of global drivers.

New Design Language Inspired by 'Art of Steel'

The new Elantra adopts Hyundai's latest design philosophy called "Art of Steel," giving the sedan a sharper, more powerful, and futuristic appearance compared to its predecessor. Up front, ultra-slim daytime running LEDs and split main headlight units positioned lower in the bumper create a bold and distinctive face. Sharply sculpted wheel arches and flush door handles enhance the car's premium and elongated look. The design is complemented by new 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels with a five-spoke pattern that matches the car's sporty character.

At the rear, the sedan features H-shaped LED taillights, an integrated lip spoiler, and a sporty lower diffuser-inspired bumper. The new Hyundai Elantra will be offered in six exterior color options and three interior color choices, providing ample personalization for buyers.

Larger Dimensions Approaching Midsize Sedan Territory

The eighth-generation Elantra has grown in nearly every dimension, bringing its interior space close to that of a midsize sedan like the Sonata. Total length now stands at 4,765 mm, a 55 mm increase, while the wheelbase has been extended by 30 mm to 2,750 mm. Width has also grown by 30 mm to 1,855 mm, and height is set at 1,425 mm. Hyundai states these changes significantly benefit rear-seat passengers, improving long-distance travel comfort.

Premium Cabin with Advanced AI-Powered Technology

The interior has been completely redesigned with a dashboard inspired by modern furniture, crafted from soft-touch materials that elevate the overall ambiance. The centerpiece is the advanced infotainment system powered by the Bluelink platform, which leverages artificial intelligence to deliver a smarter and more personalized user experience. The luxurious cabin reflects Hyundai's commitment to offering higher value in the compact sedan segment.

Global Launch Timeline

Sales of the new Hyundai Elantra (Avante) will commence in South Korea during the third quarter of 2026, with global markets, including the Middle East, expected to receive the model in 2027. Hyundai offers revised gasoline and hybrid powertrain options to meet efficiency and performance requirements across different regions, making the eighth-generation Elantra one of the most anticipated vehicles in its class.
