Spanish Gonvari Industries Eyes Egypt Plant for Auto Manufacturing to Serve Mideast and Africa

Spanish industrial group Gonvari Industries is exploring the establishment of a major manufacturing plant in Egypt to serve Middle East and African markets. The announcement came following a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Gonvari CEO Juan Riberas at the New Administrative Capital. The company brings over 65 years of expertise in steel and aluminum processing to the table.

Egypt's Automotive Sector Takes Center Stage

The discussions covered broad investment opportunities spanning car manufacturing, renewable energy, and metal structures. Industry Minister Khaled Hashim attended the meeting alongside Spanish Ambassador Sergio Roman and executives from Elsewedy Electric and Ez El Arab Elsewedy Investments. Madbouly emphasized that Egypt's industrial and logistical capabilities position it perfectly as a regional hub.

The targeted sectors represent a top national priority for the Egyptian government right now. Full support has been pledged for localizing automotive component manufacturing, with clear commitments to streamline investor processes. The Prime Minister instructed the Industry Minister to coordinate directly with Gonvari and finalize a cooperation framework within the coming weeks.

Riberas showcased his company's long-standing track record across steel, aluminum, energy, and logistics operations. He expressed genuine appreciation for the Egyptian government, confirming Gonvari's serious intent to invest in the local market. Egypt's strategic location emerged as the decisive factor for the Spanish firm's regional expansion plans.

The Industry Minister confirmed that talks addressed localization opportunities for Gonvari products in infrastructure and energy sectors. Egypt's market presents promising growth prospects amid major national projects currently underway.
