Egypt to Host Global Debut of Geely Monjaro EM-i This September

Geely Auto has confirmed that the world premiere of its new hybrid SUV, the Geely Monjaro EM-i, will take place in Egypt on Friday, September 11th, with a wider global rollout planned afterward. Cairo beating Beijing to the punch says a lot. The decision signals growing confidence in Egypt as a regional launchpad.

Geely's First Global Hybrid in the D-SUV Segment

The Monjaro EM-i marks Geely's first global hybrid model in the D-SUV segment, sitting at the heart of the brand's push to expand its new-energy vehicle lineup beyond China. Rivals like the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage dominate this space. Geely is betting on a different mix of technology and value to break through.

EM-i Super Hybrid System and GEA Evo Platform

The Monjaro EM-i rides on the EM-i Super Hybrid powertrain, paired with the dedicated GEA Evo platform for new-energy vehicles and the GEEA 3.0 electronic architecture. Early figures point to a combined range exceeding 1,300 kilometers on a single tank and charge. Geely says this system is central to its strategy for bringing advanced electrified tech to international markets.

Advanced AI Features Debut Outside China

According to the company, the Monjaro EM-i will be the first Geely model for overseas markets to feature the Xingrui large language model for AI, along with the Flyme Auto infotainment system. The cabin experience will be a significant step up. The SUV also comes equipped with comprehensive active and passive safety systems, including the Shendun battery safety system designed to enhance protection for the hybrid powertrain.

Intelligent e-AWD All-Wheel Drive

The Monjaro EM-i is also the first Geely model for international markets to offer the intelligent e-AWD electric all-wheel-drive system. Choosing Egypt for this global reveal is no accident. The local market's growing appetite for hybrids and EVs makes it an ideal testing ground before expanding across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
