Major Customs Auction in July: Porsche, Mercedes, and BMW Up for Sale with EGP 50,000 Deposit

The General Authority for Government Services, affiliated with the Ministry of Finance, has announced a new public auction for a selection of used cars, including abandoned, confiscated, and customs-cleared vehicles from Cairo International Airport. This auction is part of the authority's periodic sales events aimed at disposing of customs-seized cars and goods, offering citizens a rare opportunity to purchase luxury vehicles at competitive prices.

Auction Date and Venue

The auction session is scheduled for Thursday, July 9, at 12:00 PM, at the Giza Sports Club hall on Al-Bahr Al-Azam Street in Giza Governorate, under the supervision of the Central Sales Department of the General Authority for Government Services. Early arrival is recommended to complete registration and bidding procedures before the session begins.

Diverse Global Brands in the Lots

The auction features a range of passenger cars from renowned international brands, including Porsche, Mercedes, Chrysler, BMW, Mazda, Nissan, Kia, and Komodo. Vehicles will be sold in "lots" according to auction regulations, meaning each car or group of cars will be auctioned as a single unit to the highest bidder.

Participation Requirements and Deposit

The authority clarified that participation requires purchasing the terms and specifications booklet, priced at EGP 400, available at the authority's headquarters in the Ministry of Finance Towers, Ramses Street extension, Tower No. 2. Additionally, a participation deposit of EGP 50,000 must be paid before the auction session, which is a mandatory condition for bid acceptance. Bidders should ensure the deposit is available in cash or via a certified bank check.

Payment Terms After Winning the Bid

The authority emphasized that all sales are conducted without any commissions, stressing that physical inspection of the vehicles is the buyer's sole basis before placing a bid. The winning bidder must pay 30% of the total sale amount immediately after the auction session ends, with the remaining balance to be paid within no more than 15 days. The authority strongly advises all participants to thoroughly inspect the vehicles beforehand, as all sales are on an "as-is" basis with no warranties.

Required Documents for Participation

Individuals may participate using a valid national ID card, while companies and legal entities must provide their tax card as part of the required documents to complete the auction registration process. Companies are also advised to bring a copy of their commercial register to expedite registration. The auction is open to both individuals and businesses, with all participants required to adhere to the announced terms to ensure transparency and fairness in the sales process.
