China's Monthly Vehicle Exports Surpass One Million Units for the First Time
China achieved a historic milestone in June as its vehicle exports exceeded one million units within a single month for the first time. The record performance highlights the continued expansion of the country's automotive industry and its growing presence in global markets, with total vehicle exports reaching approximately 1.04 million units, representing a year-on-year increase of 75.1%.
June Production and Sales Performance
According to data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, vehicle production reached 2.76 million units in June, while total sales stood at 2.81 million units. Despite the large production volume, output declined by 1.2% and sales fell by 3.2% compared with the same period a year earlier, even as automotive exports continued to set new records.
First-Half Industry Results
During the first six months of the year, China's vehicle production totaled 14.99 million units, while sales reached 15.02 million units. On a year-on-year basis, production declined by 4% and sales decreased by 4.1%. However, the rate of decline narrowed compared with the first five months of the year, indicating a gradual improvement in overall market performance.
Vehicle Exports Continue Strong Growth
Total Chinese vehicle exports between January and June reached approximately 5.1 million units, marking a year-on-year increase of 65.3%. The figures underline sustained international demand for Chinese vehicles and confirm June as the first month in which exports surpassed the one-million-unit mark.
New energy vehicles also played a major role in export growth. China exported around 523,000 new energy vehicles during June, equivalent to 1.6 times the volume recorded in the same month of the previous year. Over the first half of the year, exports of new energy vehicles reached 2.36 million units, increasing by 1.2 times year on year and reinforcing the segment's expanding role in global automotive markets.
