Al-Ahram Transport Exhibition 2026 Concludes with Unprecedented Praise from Industry Leaders

The third edition of the Al-Ahram Transport Vehicles Exhibition 2026, the largest specialized event in the commercial and service vehicle sector in Egypt, concludes this Saturday. Held under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly at the Cairo International Conference Center in Nasr City, the exhibition has seen extensive participation from major manufacturers, car dealers, and transport industry leaders. This year's edition has garnered increasing praise for its organization and outcomes, reflecting the sector's evolution.

Widespread Acclaim for the Exhibition's Role in Supporting the Industry

The exhibition received notable praise from automotive sector leaders, who emphasized its importance as a specialized platform showcasing the development of the commercial vehicle industry in Egypt and highlighting opportunities for expansion and localization in this vital sector. Eng. Mohamed Abdel Samad, Chairman of Nissan Egypt and Africa, praised the organization, describing the exhibition as one of the most prominent specialized events in the transport sector. He noted that Nissan has been operating in the Egyptian market since 2004, successfully establishing its presence despite challenges, and predicted that the company's sales could reach one million vehicles annually in the coming years.

Abdel Samad added that Nissan currently exports about 25,000 vehicles from Egypt, with plans to increase this number. He affirmed that the company follows a strategy based on full readiness to support the state's direction toward localizing the automotive industry. He also mentioned the production of models meeting Euro 6 environmental standards, alongside strengthening the local industrial base to enhance the company's global competitiveness. He stressed that reaching a market size of one million vehicles annually would attract more investments, calling for a culture of production and fair competition while avoiding unregulated practices like fraud and commercial evasion to ensure a more sustainable and stable market.

General Motors: A Long History and Expansion in Commercial Vehicles

For her part, Sharon Nishi, Chairman and CEO of General Motors, expressed her appreciation for the exhibition, confirming that the company has a history spanning nearly 100 years in Egypt, having started manufacturing transport vehicles in Alexandria in 1936. She explained that throughout its journey, the company has collaborated with prominent partners, including the Mansour Group and partners from Saudi Arabia, producing nearly one million trucks. She attributed this success to three main factors: continuous commitment and development since 1985, possessing highly skilled human resources, and strong partnerships with local suppliers.

This exhibition comes at a time when Egypt's transport sector is undergoing significant transformations toward local manufacturing and export enhancement, as global companies seek to leverage Egypt's strategic location as a regional hub for manufacturing and exporting commercial vehicles. Participants in the exhibition affirm that such events create a platform for dialogue between investors and officials, fostering cooperation opportunities and driving growth in the industry.
