Top 10 Best-Selling Electric Vehicle Brands in Egypt During June 2024
New data from the Egyptian Compulsory Vehicle Insurance Pool reveals a notable uptick in electric vehicle (EV) sales across the Egyptian automotive market during June. A total of 2,233 electric vehicles were registered in the month, including 1,057 passenger EVs. This represents a modest increase compared to May, which saw 2,123 vehicles registered (1,600 passenger cars), indicating sustained growth in EV adoption within the country.
June EV Sales Ranking
BYD once again topped the list of best-selling EV brands in Egypt for June, with 168 units sold, marking its fourth consecutive month in the lead since March. Dubai-based company Dibal secured second place with 160 units, followed by Geely in third with 143 units. DFSK came in fourth with 106 units, tying with Zeekr which also recorded 106 vehicles. Volkswagen rounded out the top six with 78 units.
Comparison with May Sales
A comparison with May's figures reveals a significant shift in brand dynamics. In May, BYD dominated with 465 units, far ahead of DFSK in second place (202 units) and MCV in third (100 units). May also featured brands like Xpeng (96 units) in fourth place and Nissan (76 units) in ninth, none of which appeared in June's top six, highlighting the highly competitive and volatile nature of the EV market.
However, the most striking takeaway from June's data is the sharp narrowing of the gap between the leader and its competitors. While BYD outsold its nearest rival by 263 units in May, that margin shrank to just eight units over Dibal and 25 units over Geely in June. This convergence signals intensifying competition and a growing diversity of attractive EV models for Egyptian consumers, as the market expands driven by increased awareness and a developing charging infrastructure.
