Deepal G318 came second with 131 cars, followed by Jetour T2 i-DM with 100. Chinese brands dominated the entire top 10 list, with BYD placing three models. In July, Geely led electric vehicle sales with 225 units, highlighting a fast-changing market leadership.

BYD TI 7 topped the list of best-selling new energy vehicles in Egypt for August with 199 units sold. That number alone tells the story: the electric and hybrid market in Egypt is no longer niche. The Egyptian Compulsory Vehicle Insurance Pool report confirmed that Chinese brands are fighting hard for the top spot.

The top 10 ranking: a Chinese clean sweep

The August ranking ran as follows: BYD TI 7 first with 199 cars, Deepal G318 second with 131, then Jetour T2 i-DM with 100. Deepal S05 took fourth with 95, Avatr 07 fifth with 82, and Rox 01 sixth with 79. BYD Sealion 06 and Sealion 05 landed seventh and eighth with 78 and 75 units. Ninth and tenth went to MG RX9 (72 cars) and Rox Adamas (65 cars).

July tells a different story, by brand

The monthly sales ranking was not the only one revealing market shifts. The July electric vehicle ranking by company looked quite different: Geely led with 225 cars, followed by Rox with 122 and Deepal with 122. Nissan came fourth with 114, then BYD with 110. DFSK sold 87, Forthing 74, Zeekr 69, Xpeng 52, and MG 49, most of them MG4. Finally, Mercedes sold 42, BMW 41, and Avatr 37.

What does this gap in numbers mean?

The difference between the August and July rankings shows that Egypt's EV market has not yet settled into dominance by one brand. BYD leads in August by a wide margin over its nearest competitor, while Geely was strongest in July. This rapid shift at the top reflects a price war and expanding distribution networks. The bigger question: can this momentum survive expected increases in customs duties?

Chinese brands dominate the scene

All ten of August's best-sellers are of Chinese origin, except the MG RX9. That carries a British badge but is built in China. BYD alone placed three models on the list, giving it clear weight. Fierce competition among Deepal, Jetour, Rox. Avatr indicates that Egyptian buyers now have multiple options in the new energy segment, yet they remain cautious about going fully electric.
