New Agreement to Manufacture Rox Cars in Egypt in Partnership with El Sewedy
Chinese automaker Rox Motors has signed an agreement to manufacture its vehicles in Egypt, in collaboration with El Arabi El Sewedy Company. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Egypt's Minister of Industry and Minister of Investment, during which the establishment of a new joint venture named ROX ESI Egypt was announced, marking the partnership between the Chinese company and the Egyptian manufacturer.
Production to Begin with Rox 01 Model
Local production is expected to focus on electric or range-extended electric vehicles (REEV), with the Rox 01 likely being the first model to roll off the assembly line in Egypt. This move places Egypt among a very select group of countries manufacturing Rox vehicles, strengthening its position as a regional automotive hub.
Price Reductions and Export Plans
The local production of the Rox 01 is anticipated to lead to a noticeable reduction in its price. Furthermore, the company plans to export the vehicle from Egypt to various international markets, contributing to the Egyptian economy and boosting industrial exports.
Rox 01 Powertrain Specifications
The Rox 01 is powered by two electric motors delivering a combined output of 470 hp and 740 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds, with a top speed of 190 km/h. A 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 154 hp is connected to the electric motors, serving as a generator to recharge the 56 kWh battery pack.
Electric Range and Charging
The Rox 01 can travel up to 235 km on electric power alone, while the total driving range with all powertrain systems engaged reaches 1,115 km. Charging the battery from empty to full takes approximately 8.6 hours.
