Over 1,000 New Electric Cars Join Egyptian Streets in June: Details

The Egyptian Compulsory Motor Insurance Pool released its monthly report on electric vehicles that received compulsory insurance and first-time registration (zero-kilometer) during June 2026. The report revealed a continued growth trend in the Egyptian electric car market, with a new registration record reflecting increased consumer demand for EVs.

Electric Vehicle Registration Numbers in June

According to the report, the total number of electric vehicles that obtained new licenses in June reached 2,123 vehicles, indicating sustained momentum for electric cars in Egypt. Electric passenger cars accounted for the largest share of total registrations, recording 1,037 cars, while the remaining licenses were distributed among other electric vehicle categories, including buses, light trucks, and motorcycles.

This figure shows a significant monthly increase in new electric vehicles entering the Egyptian market, reflecting a gradual shift in consumer preferences toward sustainable mobility solutions, especially with more competitive pricing options becoming available. Top-Selling Brands in the Electric Car Market

BYD maintained its leadership as the most registered electric car brand in the Egyptian market during June, recording 168 cars. It was followed by DePal in second place with 160 cars, then Geely in third with 143 cars. DFSK came in fourth with 106 cars, tied with Zeekr, which also registered the same number.

Volkswagen ranked sixth with 78 cars, followed by XPeng in seventh with 74 cars, Forthing in eighth with 64 cars, Rox cars in ninth with 59 cars, and Mercedes in tenth with 55 cars. The list highlights the dominance of Chinese brands in the market, alongside European and American names also securing advanced positions.

The registration results reflect the ongoing momentum in the local electric car sector, driven by the increasing expansion of Chinese brands, which now capture the largest share of sales and registrations.
