Opel Corsa GSE Electric Debuts in Paris with 280 HP and 27-Minute Fast Charging

Opel has unveiled a new electric sports version of its Corsa hatchback called the Corsa GSE, producing 280 horsepower and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. That figure is striking for a compact hatch. The car will make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show 2026, running from October 12 to 18, after orders open in Europe in early September.

The Opel Corsa GSE runs on a 280-horsepower electric motor with a top speed of 180 km/h, placing it firmly in the sporty compact segment. The battery has a gross capacity of 54 kWh, with 51 kWh usable. The declared range falls between 354 and 374 kilometers depending on tire type and equipment.

Opel equipped the car with DC fast charging capability, allowing the battery to go from 20 to 80 percent in roughly 27 minutes. The suspension was specifically retuned, the ride height lowered. A Torsen limited-slip differential paired with four-piston sports brakes. These aren't cosmetic touches — they represent a complete transformation of the Corsa's character.

Daily Usability Remains Intact

Despite the performance focus, the Corsa GSE keeps its everyday practicality. Trunk space ranges from 267 to 1,042 liters with the rear seats folded. The car also supports V2L technology, letting the battery power external devices — a feature spreading quickly across new EVs. Does the average buyer really need 280 horsepower? Probably not, but it gives the car serious road presence.

Pricing and European Availability

The Corsa GSE starts at around 39,900 euros in France before local incentives. That number tells a clear story. Small electric cars are no longer purely budget options — they've become platforms for performance and technology once reserved for higher segments.
