Lexus RZ Lands in Egypt: 408-HP Electric Crossover Starts at EGP 3.5 Million

The Lexus RZ, the compact electric crossover from Toyota's luxury division, has officially arrived in Egypt through Toyota Egypt, the brand's exclusive local distributor, since mid-May. Two trim levels are available, with prices starting at EGP 3.5 million. That figure places it squarely against European rivals.

408 HP and 0–100 km/h in 4.4 Seconds

The range-topping Lexus RZ delivers 408 horsepower, launching from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. The other trim produces 224 hp and focuses more on comfort and efficiency. The car rides on the e-TNGA electric platform and uses a Japanese battery with 77 kWh capacity.

Driving range reaches 508 km for the front-wheel-drive version and 450 km for the all-wheel-drive model. Fast charging takes about 30 minutes. Those numbers mean the RZ can handle daily use without major range anxiety.

Steer-by-Wire and DIRECT4: Tech That Stands Out

Lexus packs the RZ with features rarely seen at this price point. The Steer-by-Wire system enables full electronic steering control, paired with a Yoke steering wheel inspired by Formula racing. The Interactive Manual Drive system simulates manual gear shifting — odd for an EV, yet it gives drivers a familiar feel.

The DIRECT4 system distributes torque between front and rear axles to improve stability and cornering control. Toyota, the parent company, poured its engineering expertise into this platform to deliver a driving experience that blends performance with quietness.

A 14-Inch Screen and Premium Cabin

Inside, a 14-inch main display dominates the dashboard. Materials include leather and Alcantara, with interactive ambient lighting. The safety and driver-assist suite is extensive, offering advanced features expected from a luxury badge. Yet pricing remains the decisive factor.

The first trim starts at EGP 3.5 million, while the second is priced at EGP 3.85 million. At these figures, the Lexus RZ becomes the most affordable model from the Japanese brand in Egypt. Competition with BMW and Mercedes in the luxury EV segment will be fierce, but the competitive price could give the RZ an edge.
