A surprise is brewing in Egypt's car market. New reports suggest Chinese automaker Kaiyi is preparing to introduce its EQ4 electric vehicle locally for the first time, a move eagerly awaited as the country's clean-vehicle sector expands rapidly.

Range Exceeding 400 Kilometers?

The initial numbers look promising. The car is expected to arrive with a battery offering up to 400 kilometers of driving range on a single charge, making it a strong contender in the city electric car segment, especially with the growing demand for this category due to reasonable pricing.

Projections point to the new generation arriving in October, with pricing under one million Egyptian pounds—a figure that could shift the local EV market dynamics. Most competitors currently sit at significantly higher price points.

Solid Technical Specifications

The car is a five-door hatchback, a practical format for congested cities. The electric motor delivers 54 horsepower with 110 Nm of torque, paired with two optional battery packs of 28 or 40 kWh, providing a driving range between 300 and 400 kilometers.

Charging is quick and efficient. The battery can go from 30% to 80% in just half an hour using a fast charger—a feature that makes the car suitable for daily use without range anxiety.

Modern Features

Externally, the car features LED headlights with daytime running lights, 15-inch alloy wheels, and hidden door handles that enhance the sleek profile. Inside, it offers multiple digital screens, keyless entry, push-button start, and a 360-degree panoramic camera for effortless parking.

The dimensions are compact and city-friendly. The car measures 3,720 mm in length, 1,700 mm in width, and 1,608 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,520 mm, striking a balance between exterior footprint and interior space.
