New Waiting Fees for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Egypt

One of Egypt's largest electric vehicle charging companies, Infinity EV, has announced the implementation of new waiting fees for electric cars while charging at its stations across the country. This move aims to tackle the growing issue of congestion at charging points, caused by some owners leaving their vehicles plugged in for hours even after the charging process is complete, blocking access for other users.

Why Waiting Fees Were Introduced for EV Charging

Infinity EV decided to introduce these new fees primarily to prevent congestion and overcrowding at charging stations, especially during the peak summer season when demand for EV charging increases significantly. The new charges help reduce waiting times and free up charging stations for other drivers who actually need to charge their vehicles, thereby improving the overall efficiency of the electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Waiting Fee Details at EV Charging Stations

The new waiting fees for parking vehicles at charging stations are structured as follows: The first 10 minutes after charging is complete are completely free of charge. For AC charging units, the waiting minute costs 2 Egyptian pounds after the free period ends. For DC fast charging units, the waiting minute is priced at 4 Egyptian pounds after the 10-minute free grace period expires.

This new policy is designed to enhance the experience of EV users in Egypt and ensure fair distribution of charging services among all customers, especially given the rapidly growing electric vehicle market in the country. The fees are expected to significantly reduce long waiting periods and encourage drivers to disconnect their vehicles promptly once charging is complete.
