Egyptian-Made Smart Electric Buses Hit the Roads in New Administrative Capital

The Ministry of Transport has strengthened the public transport fleet in the New Administrative Capital by launching 10 new electric buses operated by Akta Public Transport Company. This move aims to support the sustainable smart transport system and enhance mobility services within the city. The buses were inaugurated in the presence of Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport, Engineer Khaled Abbas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company, and Major General Sabry Abdel Latif, Chairman of Akta Public Transport Company.

Immediate Operation Across Capital Routes

The new electric buses have entered service immediately on various routes inside the Administrative Capital, strengthening the public transport network and linking it to major transit systems, notably the Light Rail Transit and the East Nile Monorail. This expansion increases capacity, reduces waiting times, and improves service quality for users, contributing to more efficient daily mobility within Egypt's newest city.

Fully Local Manufacturing and National Strategy

The Minister of Transport confirmed that the new buses are entirely locally manufactured and fully electric, aligning with the state's strategy to expand zero-emission transport and localize the manufacturing of modern vehicles and transit systems in Egypt. This step is part of a broader vision to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and strengthen Egypt's position as a regional hub for electric vehicle production.

Advanced Technology and Passenger Amenities

The new buses feature a range of the latest smart operating systems, including audio and visual station announcement systems, advanced vehicle tracking and fleet management technologies, an electronic payment and fare collection system, interior and exterior information screens displaying the route, and a smart bus stop system. Additionally, USB charging ports for electronic devices and high-efficiency air conditioning are provided. The company has also equipped the buses to meet the needs of people with disabilities, offering accessibility features that facilitate boarding and movement inside the vehicle, ensuring a more comfortable and safer travel experience for all passengers.

Future Development and Expansion Plans

The Minister stated that the deployment of this new batch is part of Akta's fleet development plan in line with the latest international standards, relying on technology and digital systems for managing and operating public transport services, keeping pace with the rapid urban growth in the Administrative Capital. The Ministry of Transport continues to expand the use of electric and environmentally friendly transport as part of its plan to transition to a more sustainable public transport system based on clean vehicles and smart technologies, ultimately improving the quality of transport services in new cities.
