Dongfeng Mage EV Set to Launch from El Nasr Plants with 480 km Range
SN Automotive is preparing to launch the Dongfeng Mage EV, assembled locally at El Nasr Automotive's plants in Helwan. The compact SUV uses a front-mounted 161 hp motor and a 50 kWh LFP battery, delivering up to 480 km of range. The project is part of cooperation between Al Safi Group and El Nasr to support local assembly, with the company confirming a launch within days at a price aimed at the Egyptian market.
SN Automotive, the local distributor for China's Dongfeng brand in Egypt, is preparing to launch the Dongfeng Mage EV, an electric SUV assembled locally at El Nasr Automotive's plants in Helwan. The vehicle offers a driving range of up to 480 kilometres on a single charge. It marks a new step in Egypt's push to localise electric vehicle production.
Dongfeng Mage EV: Clear Technical Specifications
The headline figure is a front-mounted motor producing 120 kW, equivalent to around 161 horsepower. Power comes from a 50 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, with maximum torque rated at 240 Nm. Those numbers put Dongfeng in direct competition with compact electric models already on the market. The setup is engineered to balance performance and efficiency.
Al Safi and El Nasr Partnership Drives Local Assembly
The car falls under cooperation projects between Al Safi Group and El Nasr Automotive, aimed at supporting local assembly and strengthening the presence of electric vehicles in the Egyptian market. Yehia Abdel Halim, CEO of SN Automotive, said the company is preparing an event to announce the new car's details and official launch date. Speaking on the "Arabiyati" programme on Radio Egypt, he added that the vehicle comes with a range of specifications and equipment, with the goal of offering it at a price suited to the Egyptian market. The timing points to a near-term launch.
Magdy Adel, the company's marketing manager, revealed during a celebration marking SN Automotive's first year in the Egyptian market and the opening of its new branch in Sheikh Zayed City that the car will be launched within days. The event combined the anniversary with a fresh announcement that reinforces the brand's presence. The company is building its retail network alongside preparations for the electric model.
Dongfeng Mage EV Differs from the Petrol Version
The Dongfeng Mage EV sits in the compact SUV segment and differs from the petrol-powered version, relying on a fully electric powertrain and an LFP battery. The difference isn't cosmetic. A full electric system means lower maintenance and cleaner operation, a point that matters to Egyptian buyers as fuel prices climb.
The project opens the door to more locally assembled models and puts the Dongfeng Mage in direct competition with imported electric cars that currently dominate the segment. The competitive price the company is promising will be the decisive factor. The official launch is just days away.
