BYD Sealion 5 DM-i Launched in Egypt Starting at EGP 1.4 Million

Following its strong market entry in recent months, Man Dream, the official distributor of BYD vehicles in Egypt, has unveiled two new models making their debut in the Egyptian automotive market. The BYD Sealion 5 DM-i is among the hybrid models offered by the company globally, and it has finally arrived in Egypt to intensify competition in the hybrid SUV segment.

BYD Sealion 5 DM-i Pricing in Egypt

The BYD Sealion 5 DM-i is available in Egypt in two trims: the first trim is priced at EGP 1.4 million, while the second trim is priced at EGP 1.65 million.

Powertrain and Performance

The vehicle is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine paired with a front-mounted electric motor. It delivers a combined output of 212 hp and 300 Nm of torque, mated to an automatic transmission with front-wheel drive. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 to 8.1 seconds, depending on the variant, and is equipped with batteries rated at 12.96 kWh and 18.3 kWh. The total driving range exceeds 1,000 km, while the top speed is rated at 170 km/h.

Dimensions and Cargo Space

The BYD Sealion 5 DM-i measures 4,738 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,710 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,712 mm. It offers a rear cargo capacity of 463 litres.

Safety and Driver Assistance Features

On the safety front, the vehicle is equipped with front, side, and curtain airbags totalling seven airbags, along with ABS, EBD, and electronic stability control. Additional features include adaptive cruise control, forward and rear collision warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring. Hill-start assist is also included.
