BYD Leads Egypt's Electric Vehicle Registrations in June

New data released by the Egyptian Motor Vehicle Insurance Pool reveals continued momentum in Egypt's electric vehicle market during the month of June. The report indicated that a total of 1,057 electric vehicles received new registrations during the month, reflecting growing consumer interest in clean and environmentally friendly cars in the local market.

BYD Maintains Lead Amid Strong Competition

Chinese brand BYD maintained its top position among the most registered electric vehicles in Egypt during June, recording 168 registered cars. This performance strengthens BYD's standing as a key player in the local electric mobility segment, supported by a diverse lineup including models such as the BYD F3 and BYD Song Plus, catering to different customer segments.

Competing Brands Ranking in June

Deepal ranked second during the same month with 160 registered cars, confirming its strong presence in the Egyptian market. Meanwhile, Geely came in third place with 143 cars, benefiting from its extensive dealer network and the introduction of electric models such as the Geely Coolray and Emgrand X7, which attracted considerable demand. This competition highlights the growing variety of options available to Egyptian consumers in the electric vehicle segment.

In fourth place, two brands tied with 106 registered cars each: DFSK and Zeekr. DFSK offers models like the DFSK Eagle 580, while Zeekr markets the fully electric Zeekr 001. Finally, Volkswagen secured sixth place with 78 registered cars, with models such as the ID.4 and ID.6 continuing to attract buyers seeking German-built electric vehicles.

Growing Trend Toward Electric Vehicles in Egypt

The June numbers reflect the gradual shift taking place in the Egyptian market toward electric vehicles, supported by the expansion of charging infrastructure and the increasing number of competitively priced models available. With more new brands entering the market and government incentives in place, the pace of growth in registered electric vehicles is expected to continue in the coming months, strengthening Egypt's position as a promising market in the Middle East region.
