BYD Drops a Bombshell: 97% Charge in 9 Minutes and 1,000 km Range to Crush EV Range Anxiety
Chinese automaker BYD has unveiled its new flagship electric sedan, aiming to strengthen its presence in the luxury EV segment. The vehicle is powered by an ultra-fast charging system capable of charging the battery from 10% to 97% in just about 9 minutes, a groundbreaking achievement in the industry.
Revolutionary Charging and Battery Technology
The new model is part of BYD's strategy to expand its portfolio of advanced electric vehicles, offering a combination of long range, strong performance, and rapid charging. According to industry reports, the sedan is expected to feature the second generation of BYD's «Blade» batteries, along with the «Flash Charging» ultra-fast technology, which significantly reduces charging time compared to current conventional systems.
Exceptional Range and Competitive Performance
Leaked specifications suggest the new model could achieve a driving range of over 1,000 kilometers in certain versions, with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options available. This versatility positions the sedan to compete directly with luxury electric models in global markets, as demand grows for EVs that combine long range with superior driving dynamics.
This move underscores BYD's commitment to addressing one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption: charging time. Ultra-fast charging technology could make the electric vehicle experience much closer to that of traditional cars in terms of refueling convenience, potentially accelerating the shift toward electric mobility.
Global Expansion of Charging Infrastructure
The Chinese automaker is also working on expanding a charging network compatible with these new technologies, supporting its global expansion plans and enhancing its competitiveness in the EV market. This comes amid intensifying competition from Chinese, European, and American automakers in the sector. BYD is one of the world's largest EV manufacturers, focusing in recent years on battery development, intelligent driving technologies, and luxury electric models as part of a strategy to secure its position in the future of the automotive industry.
