BYD and its local distributor Man Dream have set September 18 as the official launch date for the BYD Atto 2 in Egypt. The compact electric SUV marks the brand's latest addition to its growing Egyptian lineup.

BYD Atto 2 Expands Brand's Egyptian Portfolio

Ahead of the Atto 2's arrival, BYD's Egyptian range already includes a diverse mix of electric and plug-in hybrid models. The lineup features the Dolphin Surf EV, Sealion 5 DM-i, Sealion 6 EV, Sealion 6 DM-i, Ti 7 DM-i, Atto 8 DM-i. M9 DM-i, along with the Shark 6 DMO pickup. BYD prices in Egypt start at 949,900 EGP for the Dolphin Surf EV, while some higher trims exceed 3 million EGP.

Dimensions and Practicality of the BYD Atto 2

The BYD Atto 2 measures 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width. 1,675 mm in height, with a 2,620 mm wheelbase. Cargo space stands at 400 liters, expanding to approximately 1,340 liters with the rear seats folded. Ground clearance reaches about 165 mm unladen in some global specs, while the turning radius is 5.25 meters.

Powertrain and Performance Figures

Globally, the Atto 2 relies on a fully electric powertrain with a permanent-magnet synchronous motor and front-wheel drive. One international variant delivers 130 kW, equivalent to roughly 177 horsepower, paired with 290 Nm of torque. That version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and tops out at 160 km/h.

Competitive Landscape in Egypt's Compact EV Segment

The Atto 2's September 18 arrival sets up a fierce battle in Egypt's compact electric SUV segment. The newcomer will challenge established players like Hyundai and Chery, both of which offer compact options in a similar price bracket.
