Warning Against Counterfeit Car Parts: Experts Call for Stricter Oversight
Journalist and media figure Hisham El-Zeini has warned against the spread of non-compliant spare parts in the automotive market, stressing that confronting this phenomenon requires intensified oversight to prevent these products from entering the market and to ensure control over them, safeguarding citizens and their vehicles.
Risks of Non-Genuine Spare Parts
Speaking on the program 'Yahduth fi Misr' broadcast on MBC Masr, El-Zeini added that using non-original or unknown-source spare parts could lead to serious technical issues for cars, resulting in frequent breakdowns and additional costs borne by the consumer.
Dealers' Responsibility in Providing Genuine Alternatives
El-Zeini pointed out that some dealers, especially newcomers, focus on securing new agencies and introducing modern models to the market, while not paying enough attention to providing genuine spare parts in the required quantities, or offering them at excessively high prices. This forces some car owners to resort to unguaranteed alternatives.
Call for Stricter Oversight and Consumer Protection
El-Zeini emphasized the importance of tightening control over the spare parts market, ensuring that traded products meet standard specifications, and obligating dealers to provide genuine spare parts at fair prices. This would protect consumer rights and enhance vehicle safety on the roads.
