Hatla2ee has revealed the list of the most widespread car brands in Egypt's used car market during June, tracking the density of vehicles listed for sale. Surprisingly, the company topping the list is a luxury brand.

Ranking of the Most Common Used Car Brands in Egypt

The ranking of the most widespread car brands on Hatla2ee is as follows: Mercedes leads with 1,400 cars, followed by Hyundai with 968 cars, and Kia with 800 cars. Renault came fourth with 654 cars, and Chevrolet fifth with 620 cars. BMW ranked sixth with 617 cars, Nissan seventh with 585 cars, and Fiat eighth with 434 cars. Opel took ninth place with 431 cars, and Chery tenth with 422 cars. The remaining positions include Peugeot with 421 cars, Toyota with 407 cars, MG with 388 cars, Skoda with 372 cars, Volkswagen with 351 cars, and Mitsubishi with 302 cars.

Why Mercedes Dominates the Used Car List

The report suggests that Mercedes, a luxury brand with high prices, topping the used car market list may be due to several factors. First, the brand's diverse portfolio of cars is extensive. Second, Mercedes vehicles may remain in the market longer than lower-priced cars, increasing their presence. A third possible reason is that some Mercedes owners are selling their cars for more economical options, seeking maximum returns. Actual cases have been observed of Mercedes or other luxury car owners switching to less luxurious options due to recent economic conditions causing significant losses for many, particularly the US-Iran war.

Hyundai and Kia: Logical Market Choices

The presence of Hyundai and Kia in second and third place is a logical outcome, given their expanding portfolios of used cars that are in high demand. Cars from these brands, especially newer models, represent a new phase for those looking to upgrade from an economical car to one with higher specifications.

Limited Share for Chinese Cars

Chinese cars did not secure a significant share on the list, which is natural since most Chinese cars are still relatively new to the market.
