Safari Vehicle Seized in Hurghada After Child Driving Incident
The Egyptian Ministry of Interior has revealed the details of a viral video circulating on social media, showing an individual allowing a young child to drive a vehicle designated for safari trips in the Red Sea region. The ministry emphasized that such actions endanger the lives of the driver, the child, and other citizens, highlighting the seriousness of neglecting traffic safety rules.
Arrest and Vehicle Seizure
Security forces successfully identified the person seen in the video, a worker residing in the First Hurghada Police Department area, and arrested him. He confessed to committing the incident over a month ago while in the mountainous safari area. He stated that the child in the clip is the son of one of his clients, and he posted the video on his personal page to boost viewership.
Authorities seized the vehicle used in the incident and initiated legal procedures against the worker. This move is part of the ministry's broader efforts to monitor traffic violations threatening public safety, particularly in tourist areas with high visitor activity, where safari vehicles are common.
Impact on Traffic Safety Regulations
This incident raises questions about compliance with traffic laws in Egypt, especially regarding the operation of vehicles designated for special purposes like safari trips. The Ministry of Interior asserts that such irresponsible behavior requires firm action to prevent recurrence, especially as social media is increasingly used to distribute dangerous content aimed at attracting attention.
The enforcement action aligns with wider campaigns by authorities to regulate vehicle movement in tourist zones, focusing on safari and tourist transport to ensure legal compliance. Authorities urge citizens to report similar violations, reiterating that public safety remains a top priority. Ongoing education and stricter enforcement are expected to enhance road safety for both tourists and residents.
