Record Surge in 2027 Model Registrations During June 2026
New data from the Egyptian Compulsory Vehicle Insurance Pool reveals that 2026 models continued to dominate new vehicle registrations during June 2026, while 2027 models recorded a remarkable surge compared to May. The figures point to a gradual but accelerating shift in the Egyptian market toward newer model years, as automakers and importers ramp up deliveries of the latest offerings.
Registration Breakdown by Model Year
The report shows that total zero-kilometer vehicle registrations reached 70,497 units in June, with 2026 models accounting for 49,261 units, maintaining their hold on the largest market share. In contrast, 2027 models saw a sharp increase to 8,737 units in June, up from just 4,687 units in May — a surge of over 86%. This reflects faster introduction of newer model years into the Egyptian market, alongside growing consumer and corporate demand for the latest vehicles.
Performance Across Vehicle Segments
In the passenger car segment, 2026 models registered 13,117 units, while 2027 models climbed to 5,781 units, compared to only 3,150 units in May, indicating a clear uptick in availability of newer models in the passenger car sector. For motorcycles, 2026 models dominated with 33,566 units, while only a single 2027 model motorcycle was registered, highlighting a slower model renewal pace in this segment. The commercial transport sector, however, showed strong uptake of 2027 models, with 2,259 trucks registered versus 919 for 2026 models, signaling a rapid fleet turnover toward newer vehicles.
Older Model Year Data
Registrations were not limited to the newest models. Vehicles from model year 2025 totaled 9,714 units, up from 7,304 in May, while 2024 models reached 1,727 units and 2023 models accounted for 1,058 units. These figures confirm that the Egyptian market is undergoing a steady transition toward newer model years, especially in the passenger car and transport segments, although 2026 models remain the backbone of registration activity. As this trend continues, market watchers expect 2027 models to gain even more ground in the coming months.
