Competition is heating up in the compact SUV segment after Mansour Automotive officially launched the all-new Opel Frontera in Egypt. The model enters the local market with seven seats for the first time, putting it in direct confrontation with the new Citroen C3 Aircross. On paper, the gap between them is minimal.

Engines and Performance

Both vehicles are powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine producing 130 horsepower, with the Frontera delivering 230 Nm of torque and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Opel achieves a top speed of 190 km/h, average fuel consumption of 6.1 liters per 100 km. A 44-liter fuel tank. Citroen relies on the PureTech engine with the same displacement and output, though torque figures remain undisclosed.

The standout number here is the relatively strong torque of the Opel Frontera, which should translate into better acceleration response. Real-world performance, however, depends heavily on curb weight and suspension tuning—areas where these two differ noticeably.

Dimensions and Interior Space

The Frontera measures 4,385 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width, and 1,627 mm in height. These figures put it very close to the C3 Aircross, but the essential difference is that Opel offers seven seats while Citroen makes do with five. That makes the Frontera a practical choice for larger families, whereas the Citroen counters with clever interior flexibility.

Interior space is one of Citroen's strong suits, thanks to a clever cabin layout that allows easy seat adjustments. But Opel adds a third-row option that simply isn't available in the Citroen, giving owners more versatility for hauling passengers or luggage.

Features and Safety

Both cars come with modern equipment packages that include driver-assistance systems and touchscreen infotainment, though specific details vary by trim level in Egypt. The Frontera adopts sharp, contemporary styling with a bold front grille, while the Citroen goes for a softer, friendlier design language.

The real deciding factor is buyer priorities—if you're after a value-oriented compact family SUV, the Citroen C3 Aircross may serve you well. But the Frontera is the obvious pick for those who need that extra seat without sacrificing performance.
